Tutorial Created by Kyle Katarn
Okay, seeing as most n00bs get the RPG maker program and think they’re pro (I’m not talking about anyone, I meant in general). I thought this might be fitting.
Okay, switches are commands that are used to trigger another event. So this tutorial is going to use one of the most common problem with newbies, the weird old bloke that wont stop giving you the sword.
Okay, you’ve wrote two lines of coding and feeling pretty proud of yourself.
You go to test the game out, speak to the man, he gives you the Dragon Sword… what the hell has he got one for? Then you talk to him again, he gives you another… what the hell is he doing with multiples of it? “This is a disaster!” you think.
Never fear, Kyle is here.
(Today, of all days to wear my purple cape!)
Anyway, in step form.
1. Open the Event Commands box and select the Switch Operations Command.
This will bring up the Switch Operations box.
2. Double click the Single Switch window, which’ll bring up the Switches Command box. Name your switch something like “Item Obtained” and click okay.
Make sure that the Operation box has ON selected. Click okay.
3. Tadaa, you have the switch command, now select the New Page command (highlighted).
(Where the hell did the old man go :P, don’t worry, I screwed up while making the event.)
4. Now, on the new page, Tick the Switch option in the Preconditions Box and select your switch.
I hope you learnded ^_^
No credit needed, I mean come on, they’re the most simple thing in the world lol.
